How do you write a thank you letter after an interview that went horrible?

I had an interview today and the interviewer DIDN’T know how to interview. I wasn’t asked the typical interview questions like tell me about yourself or can you tell me what type of position are you looking for etc. I wasn’t offered a business card at the end of this interview. So, how would I write the thank you letter? Please give me some guidelines.

My suggestion is to write the thank you letter as if the interview went well. It’s not your fault the interviewer wasn’t on base today. Maybe the thank you letter will catch their interest and you will still get offered the job. Good luck.

Why would you write a letter?

Just thank the interviewer for the opportunity to meet with them and to learn more about the position and the company/business. Keep it simple and short but sincere.

    Good luck!

Just keep it simple. Say “thank you for taking the time to meet with me” and “I am available if you have further questions”. Maybe express your continued interest in the position if you are still interested. Keep it short and sweet.

    Good luck!

I would keep it polite and professional, even if you’re not interested in the job anymore. “Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you again”, etc… As long as you’re not the one who wasn’t professional, you have nothing to worry about, and should write your thank you letter the same; if you don’t know the interviewer’s name, call the company and ask- its appropriate.

I have never heard of anybody writing a thank you letter after an interview. In my eyes it would sound like you are sucking up to the bosses and totally desparate. I would just wait until I hear back from them. Perhaps you could do a thankyou letter if they decide to employ you…

I never heard of doing that. Guess you want keep foot in door. First it should be polite but not to long. Maybe something like:
Dear Mr—–, I appreciated the opportunity for a interview with you. If your position is not filled I would like to meet again and further discuss my experience and what I feel I can offer your company. Sincerely——–
