Operating on Online Business?

I’m starting an online business selling jewelry. I am considering selling on Ebay, but from what I have seen on there from look-ups the market for jewelry is slow to none. Is Ebay even worth it or is there a trick to selling? I’m interested in setting up a website to sell through but for now paying for the site domain isn’t in the budget. I have seen others selling on myspace and yahoo 360, but I’m unsure how this works, especially with payment. Are there other options? I know that if I reach a profit of a certain amount then I have to claim it on my taxes but are there other laws that I should be aware of when selling online? I know this is more than one question, but I’d really appreciate some guidance.
It is handmade jewelry. So it will be a list it as I make it.

Do you have a supply for your jewelery? Or these are the pieces from here and there?
There is no need for you to get a website if you only have odds and ends pieces. And Ebay will be just fine. If your business is picking up, then you get into ebay express to setup a store, not need to brand yourself out on the website by yourself.
All the payment will be going through paypal anyway, and it is okay for them to take their commissions, because you have no budget for pay any operation costs.

My friend tryed saleing her jewlry on ebay and also had very little profit. It was not worth it she said. I had advised her to check with little personally owned gift stores. To see if she may be able to set up a display in there store. I hope this helps you
